Biosand Filter

Water, we turn it on, we use it brush our teeth, use it to cook with, bath, drink and for the toilet.  We may give it a passing thought when we have to pay the bill at the end of the month, or when we buy filters.  But for most of us water is a passing thought.  But for millions around the world water is a HUGE concern and it means life and death.  According to the UN (report here), 11% of the global population is without safe drinking water.  Lack of clean reliable water leads to poor health, disease and even death due to disease.

Some people lack a supply of clean water and others have water but it is not clean.  I have made 5 trips, so far, to one of the places that lacks clean water.  The island of Bocachica and many of the surrounding islands and communities in Colombia lack water that is clean.  The people are forced to use contaminated water, rain water and paying to have water shipped to them.

The Ariel’s goal is to provide a filter, hygiene training and follow up to a family for the cost of $65 USD (Tax Deductible).  To find out more please follow this link to the Ariel’s page and consider giving the gift of life through water.  Giving has never been easier!  You can now donate directly from their page!
