Rain

Downtown Rain

Downtown Rain

I have always enjoyed watching and listening to it rain.  I love to look out the window and see the skies open and the rain come down.  There is nothing like sitting on a porch and feeling the breeze blow the sheets of rain and feeling the moisture in the air.  Sitting and watching the fog/clouds roll up the mountain at Laurel Ridge.  Listening to the sounds of the rain on the roof and on tin bring great sleep.  Hearing the crack of thunder after the flash of lightning.  I might get sick of the rain if I lived in the Pacific Northwest or in Hawaii.  But I highly doubt it. I love it too much.

Enter Through The Red Door

I think love the rain so much because it reminds me of God’s love.  Sitting in my Sunroom watching the rain was a reminder to me of His love.  Back in 2007 I wrote this blog entry “Grace Rain & Living Water Springs.”  God showers His children, bought by Christ’s sacrifice, with peace, grace, hope and blessings.  His showers of grace come to us as we enter though the blood-red door of the cross.  His rain refreshes us, satiates our thirst, and fills us to overflowing with all we need (more of Him).

Sky of Gray

Storms come and the sun seems to be washed away.  Gloom can cloud the horizon.  Winds howl and blow and foundations seem to shake.  But I have no need to fear.  For NO STORM big or small is outside of God’s will.  He has promised that my soul will never be destroyed by flood.  Some times He calms the storms in my life and other times He calms me.  Saying “Peace, be still.”

Rain’s Reflection

I just have to Stop and seek His direction.  I have to sometimes yield to being drenched so that the hard ground of my heart can be made fertile.

Sunroom Storm

But sometimes I just need to sit, be still and listen to the rain and watch the life that it brings.  Some times even record the showers to remember for the dry times.  Then enjoy the fresh smell and Son breaking through the clouds.
